One of the running subplots of the last few issues is Larry Trainor's desire to reclaim the negative energy powers from Val Vostock. And in today's issue, he crosses into a very morally dubious area when he enlists the aid of Reactron, and old villain from the 70s era patrol. Going so far as to bust Reactron out of jail, Trainor then has the villain siphon off the negative energy powers, placing them in his own body. I'd like to put it all down to Larry having a breakdown of some kind, because it's really not in keeping with his character. I don't know that he's acted in such a malicious way before or since.
And Garguax kills Cliff!!
