Okay - in an effort to read some less-mainstream stuff, I went through my miscellaneous section for each letter of the alphabet and pulled out a comic to read. Today's offering comes from Acetylene Comics, who've a scant 6 issues represented in the GCD. Though today's issue wasn't actually in there, so they may have a bit more stuff out there.

I was not expecting to like this comic as much as I did. Coming, as it does, from the late 90s, and having a catsuited woman on the cover, I figured it was going to be the usual exploitative, violent "bad girl" comic that, honestly, I come to expect from the era. Instead, we're introduced to an assassin who works for "The Council," a shadowy agency that tasks her with taking down rapists, pedophiles, cannibals - basically, any horrible people. In this issue she takes down a high school serial rapist and ends up hoisting him up in front of his school and tattooing "Rapist" on his chest. I was pretty great.

And surprisingly raw, again given the time period in which it was released.

A is for Acetylene
A comic that goes to prove
That judging books by covers
Is a total dick move.

More to follow.
