The 40 Years of Comics Project - Day 1815: Duplex Planet Illustrated #11, December 1994

I had this comic recommended to me by Mike at Purple Gorilla Comics here in Calgary. I honestly have never been disappointed by anything he's suggested. Mike knows his comics, and he knows his good comics. And his knowledge stretches to the far reaches of the hobby, which is so impressive. I mean, he knows his mainstream stuff, and has recommended to me some incredible superhero stuff, but he's also handed me things like this. I never would have picked up this comic on my own, but I'm so glad I had the chance to read it. David Greenberger worked at a nursing home, and he interviewed and talked with the residents, publishing the amazing results in his Duplex Planet zine. This illustrated version brings some of the best artists in the 90s alternative scene together to give visual interpretations of some the very bizarre things that the old folks have to say.

We often hear that we should be listening to our elders - I will listen if it's in a format like this.

More to follow.
