I'm still sick so I won't be talking too much about this issue.
I guess the thing (no pun intended) that gets me about this series, and about Ben Grimm's subsequent eponymous title, is that I didn't realize The Thing was so popular as to have rated his own ongoing, and lengthy series in the 70s and 80s. Considering it, though, I wonder if he's a less-grim (again, no pun intended) take on the Wolverine-style character, who became far more popular in the later 80s, after Watchmen and Dark Knight. The Thing has all the attitude but none of the violence and pathos.
Maybe.
