Nearing the end of the road here, and what a strange road it's been. I'll admit, I'm looking forward to returning to the Age of Apocalypse. Perhaps the reason that one doesn't see a lot of attention paid to erotic or pornographic comics is that it's very easy to become desensitized and bored with them. How much sex can one watch? (There's a dangerous question to ask if there ever was one!)
I don't have much to say about this one. I don't think it's particularly because I'm bored with the genre at the moment. This issue is the second part of a story called "Blue," named after a dog in the story that does very little. I think what gets me about this tale is that it's trying desperately to have a story. There's intrigue about a member of the royal family, cruel and sadistic antagonists, a loyal hound that evinces deep love (no pun intended) for his mistress, and a detective on the trail of a kidnapped princess. The trouble is, it comes across (dammit! No pun intended) every bit as cliched as that description sounds. The sex in it is unpleasant, the nudity seemingly without reason. The artwork, by the oddly named "Oh! Great," is technically proficient, and I'd even go so far as to say that in a non-porn comic it would serve the story rather expertly. But in this case, the story, or the attempt at story, overrides the aesthetic appreciation one might have for the art, and thus makes it a chore to read.
I'll finish up this lascivious week tomorrow with one of my favourite titles in the Eros hentai stable, Hot Tails. See you then.
