The 40 Years of Comics Project - Day 325: Showcase #67, March 1967

There's just so much wrong with this comic.

"B'wana" is an East African way of saying "sir." So basically, Blonde-haired, blue-eyed Mike Maxwell becomes Sir Beast, saviour of ALL OF AFRICA, even though he's an American.

The Police Commissioner, Rupert Kenboya, an old college roommate of Maxwell calls his helicopter an "iron bird."

And the story ends with Maxwell silencing a girl reporter (also white, also American) who he's just met with a kiss as she calls him "Beast."

The worst part: this comic explains a whole episode of Morrison's Animal Man that I hadn't understood til now. But It's. So. Bad.

What will tomorrow bring?
