Lovely to see a department taking the kind of action one would love to see globally. Comics are a fundamentally important literary and artistic medium, and that we still, more than a century after their "creation," have to argue for their veracity and seriousness in academic departments if further evidence that such departments need to be torn down completely and rebuilt.
